Australian Rail Track Corporation

ARTC keeps Australia moving. Every day we manage the movement of more than 420 freight and passenger trains across five states and 8,500km of track. We’re a vital part of the nation’s transport supply chain, connecting places and ports to people and products. Our diverse workforce of more than 2,000 employees nationwide work together to provide a safe, sustainable and efficient rail network to drive the economy. Owned by the Australian Government, we’re constantly evolving through new rail projects, such as Inland Rail – a 1,700km fast freight route joining Brisbane to Melbourne.

About the employer

As one of the largest rail network managers in Australia, we’re unashamed champions of rail as a cost efficient, reliable, safe and responsible mode of transport.

We build, maintain and operate rail lines across the country to support our customers and more than 420 passenger and freight trains every day. We employ more than 2,000 people who work in rail corridors, network control centres, provisioning centres and offices, across the country. We continue to invest in our 8,500km rail network which spans five states, 39 worksites and the lands of more than 50 First Nations.

ARTC is a Government Business Enterprise – similar to Australia Post and NBN Co. and is represented by the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.

As passionate as we are about rail, we’re equally passionate about safety. Ensuring safe workplaces is critical in everything we do, so we return home to our loved ones every day.
