You’ll be naturally inquisitive, with strong attention to detail and great time management skills. You will need to enjoy researching, and be a great communicator who can share ideas and collaborate with others.
What is the work environment like?
Heritage advisers often work in project teams alongside engineers, project managers, and business managers. You’ll usually work in an office, but at times you may visit project sites and facilities. You may participate in field work including surveys, studies, monitoring, and regular project inspections and audits. You can find work as a heritage adviser all around Australia. Many jobs are in cities and towns. You may also visit and spend time in remote locations.
Eligibility & pathways
Heritage advisers typically have university qualifications with specialisations in cultural heritage, heritage management, history, Indigenous studies, Australian studies, anthropology, or archaeology. Our industry values diverse personal and work experience. Many employers can provide you with opportunities to gain new qualifications and industry experience to help you succeed.
