Administrators work in all types of rail organisations. You could choose to work for a small rail consulting firm where you might be the only source of administrative support for every consultant in the business. Or, you could join a large maintenance firm where you might support a particular area such as accounts, strategy, or operations. You could also choose to work as a personal assistant for a senior executive in a rail organisation.
What is the work environment like?
You may work in an office, welcoming visitors and providing support to professionals in different business areas. Or you could work on site, supporting project teams to achieve their goals. Your day could include answering calls, filing paperwork, taking deliveries, scheduling appointments, managing emails, and helping to onboard new employees. You can find work as an administrator all around Australia. Most jobs are in cities and towns. Some are in remote areas.
Eligibility & pathways
You may not need any qualifications to work in administration. However, a certificate or diploma in business administration will give you useful skills for the role. Our industry values diverse personal and work experience. Many employers can provide you with opportunities to gain new qualifications and industry experience to help you succeed.
